Description

The project funding of the Dr. Heines Foundation supports non-profit and charitable initiatives in the Bremen area that aim to implement socially or medically oriented projects. In particular, measures in the fields of research & innovation, science, youth welfare, healthcare, as well as education and training are funded. The goal is to create long-term effective impulses and to enable disadvantaged people in Bremen to access preventive, therapeutic, or educational services. Eligible applicants are registered associations, interest groups, and educational institutions with verifiable regional ties. The foundation preferably supports projects with sustainable impact, strong regional networking, and genuine added value for diverse target groups – from young people and socially disadvantaged individuals to scientific institutions.

Applications can be submitted continuously and informally. Required are a meaningful project description outlining the objectives, timeline, and involved actors, as well as a detailed financing plan including in-kind contributions and third-party funding. Decision criteria include, among others, the innovative strength, the scope of the project, demonstrated initiative, and alignment with other foundation goals. Projects that address interfaces between multiple funding areas are given special priority. As the grant provider, the Dr. Heines Foundation reviews and approves the funds through a board of trustees, which decides based on established framework conditions. With this transparent funding structure, the foundation contributes to sustainably strengthening committed initiatives in Bremen and promoting social participation.
