Description

The project funding of the Lausitz Brown Coal Foundation has supported non-profit engagement in Brandenburg and Saxony since 2004 through one-time or ongoing grants. Initiatives by associations, foundations, educational institutions, interest groups, and individuals are funded, provided they implement innovative educational measures, environmental and nature education projects, prevention programs, as well as cultural and language mediation. Applicants must demonstrate their registered office or sphere of activity in the Lausitz region and prove a non-profit or worthy activity. At the same time, detailed project plans including a financing plan and a current exemption certificate must be submitted. The foundation places special emphasis on sustainability, regional benefit, and practical relevance. Funding recommendations are made based on the criteria "innovation and practical relevance," "sustainability aspects," and "regional benefit for the Lausitz."

Eligible expenses include personnel and material costs, travel expenses, and material costs; retroactive expenses or debt settlement are excluded. The funding objective is to strengthen the social, economic, and cultural environment in the Lausitz and to promote international understanding. The decision on the allocation of funds is made by the foundation board, implemented and supervised by the executive board, which is voluntarily engaged by regional experts. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing project sponsors to respond flexibly to needs. Invitations to scholarships or awards in the field of youth education complete the offering and exemplify how the foundation sets lasting impulses for a sustainable region through financial support.
