Project Funding from the Weser-Ems Environmental Foundation

The Weser-Ems Environmental Foundation supports committed projects for nature and environmental protection in the Weser-Ems administrative district. Funding is provided, among other things, for initiatives related to species and habitat conservation, environmental communication, as well as scientific research and environmental education. Eligible applicants include natural and legal persons – ranging from private initiatives and associations to educational institutions and companies – who can demonstrate own funds or in-kind contributions. Grants are exclusively invested in concrete measures, with personnel costs excluded. The foundation’s purpose, based on the preservation of the natural environment and the strengthening of environmental awareness, is reflected in its statutes and realized through innovative approaches in regional species protection, transparent communication formats, and scientific studies.

Decisions on funding applications are made each spring and autumn. Key criteria include compatibility with the foundation’s objectives, proof of own funds, regional relevance, and the innovative nature of the project. Applications must include a detailed project description, a financial overview including a financing plan, as well as supporting attachments (e.g., photos, sketches). Simple application documents that clearly outline the type and scope of the measure reduce bureaucratic hurdles and facilitate review by management and the board. In this way, the foundation promotes not only the preservation of habitats but also knowledge transfer and the engagement of young people for a sustainable future in Weser-Ems.
