Description

The ZeroFourFoundation gGmbH supports innovative projects year-round at the intersection of art, science, and civil society in Germany. With a focus on visual cultures – particularly photography and photobook culture – it primarily funds collection projects, publications, and exhibitions. As a grant provider, the foundation enables non-profit organizations, educational institutions, companies, private individuals, and foundations to realize creative initiatives. The aim is to preserve the visual cultural heritage, stimulate critical discourse on image cultures, and promote diversity as well as interdisciplinary exchange. The open submission process without fixed deadlines allows for continuous adaptation to current research projects, mediation formats, and exhibition concepts.

Eligible applicants are artistic, scientific, and civil society actors who engage with issues of image communication and history. Projects that re-examine the medium of photography in collection and research contexts, open up photobook holdings, or develop innovative mediation formats are supported. The ZeroFourFoundation places great importance on a critical perspective on visual practices, the exploration of previously underappreciated collections, and the networking of national and international partners. Funded projects make a significant contribution to strengthening a contemporary visual culture and create access to visual narratives that deepen the understanding of social, historical, and artistic contexts.
