Description
The Zukunftsstiftung Südraum Leipzig, as a private-law, non-profit institution, supports economically oriented research and development projects in the Leipzig southern region that have an exemplary character and serve as initial projects for subsequent initiatives. In particular, interdisciplinary collaborative projects between small and medium-sized enterprises and research institutions are supported, as well as projects by institutions, associations, and multipliers that practically implement research results. The goal is the sustainable strengthening of regional development in Saxony and the anchoring of innovations in the fields of digitalization, energy efficiency & climate protection, environmental and nature conservation, urban development, housing construction, agriculture, infrastructure, and research & innovation. Applications can be submitted continuously; there is no fixed deadline.
Funding is provided for personnel and material costs, operating expenses, preliminary studies and feasibility analyses, scientific-technical equipment, travel expenses, market analyses, workshops, and publications. A prerequisite is a project not yet started, with a high degree of innovation and model character, direct benefit for the region, and proven own contribution. Projects aimed at fulfilling legal obligations, institutional ongoing funding, pure investment projects, already commenced measures, or studies without implementation relevance are not eligible. Selection is based on the criteria of innovation character, practical relevance, model nature, regional reference, and degree of cooperation. The application requires, among other things, a detailed application letter, cost and financing plan, schedule and timeline, as well as proof of own contribution. The foundation also acts as a networking platform and supports applicants with professional advice upon request.
