Description
The project funding (Memorial Site Funding Lower Saxony) of the Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation supports non-profit organizations, public institutions, and educational establishments in Lower Saxony in the conception and implementation of projects related to Nazi-era remembrance culture and memorial work. Activities in the areas of research, documentation, education, and public relations are funded – such as exhibitions, publications, digital projects, conferences, commemorative events, archive visits, or interviews with contemporary witnesses. Educational concepts for historical-political education and the development of educational materials are also subsidized. Up to 50% of the total project costs can be applied for as a grant, enabling initiatives and organizations to establish sustainable and scientifically grounded remembrance culture.
Funding applications can be submitted continuously and are reviewed in two sessions of the Scientific Advisory Committee: submissions by March 31 for the spring session and by September 30 for the autumn session. A prerequisite is the implementation of the project within the funding area of Lower Saxony in compliance with the Foundation’s guidelines. Required documents include a completed application form from the form repository, a detailed expenditure and financing plan, proof of use, and a waiver of legal remedies. Evaluation is based on the criteria of relevance to remembrance culture, scientific content, and feasibility. Thus, the project funding offers transparent and reliable support for initiatives actively engaged in addressing the Nazi history in Lower Saxony.
