Description
The Saarland annually supports non-profit organizations, foundations, as well as recognized churches and religious communities in the implementation of development policy projects both domestically and abroad. Funding is provided for measures that focus on sustainable development goals, improve the living conditions of disadvantaged population groups, and raise awareness within civil society in Saarland. The funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy of up to 70% of eligible expenses, but no more than €12,500 per project and a total of up to €20,000 per applicant. Applications can be submitted by December 31 of each year for the following fiscal year.
Eligible costs include, among others, fees (up to 50% of total costs), domestic travel expenses, material resources, and in-kind contributions (maximum 10% of total costs). Non-reimbursable costs include personnel expenses, individual sponsorships, travel expenses in the "Global South," land acquisition, and follow-up project costs. A prerequisite is a clearly defined, feasible project plan oriented towards sustainable development, as well as professional and organizational capacity for implementation and accounting. For international projects, cooperation with a non-profit partner organization in the "Global South" is required. The evaluation is based on aspects such as sustainability, feasibility, contribution to improving the lives of disadvantaged groups, and cost-benefit ratio. The application must include, among other documents, a completed application form, cost and financing plan, project description, proof of non-profit status or church recognition, as well as evidence of partner cooperation.
