Description

The Children's Reading Foundation supports non-profit initiatives in the state capital Düsseldorf as well as in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district, which are dedicated to learning to read, educational promotion, and democracy education for children and young people. Eligible to apply are associations, foundations, educational institutions, and interest groups, provided they pursue exclusively and directly non-profit purposes and implement projects that have not yet started. Grants are awarded twice a year on May 1 and October 1. The foundation's board places great importance on the significance of the project, its alignment with the foundation's profile, as well as on non-profit status and the sustainable contribution to social cohesion. Expenses for deficit coverage or permanent financing are excluded, as are repeat applications.

For the application, the official funding form must be completed and submitted together with the exemption notice, the statutes or an extract from the register of associations, and a concise project description. After the formal review, an introductory meeting follows, in which the implementation idea is discussed in depth. Subsequently, the board decides on the funding amount and, if necessary, offers support in networking with cooperation partners. The Children's Reading Foundation accompanies funded initiatives from the application phase through to the verification of use, to ensure a sustainable impact in the areas of reading promotion, training and further education, as well as commitment to democracy.
