Description

The Project Funding Sustainability Fund of the City of Kiel is aimed at initiatives, associations, federations, nonprofit organizations, public institutions, as well as dedicated private individuals based or active in Kiel. The goal is to strengthen projects that contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN SDGs). A total of €50,000 is available annually; individual projects can be subsidized with up to €10,000. Funding is provided as a one-time grant; application deadlines are continuously announced on the city’s website.

Projects are funded in the areas of environmental and nature conservation, climate protection, education for sustainable development, engagement for social cohesion and democracy, energy efficiency, as well as vocational training, work & social affairs. Eligible for application are all projects with a close connection to at least one UN sustainability goal. The selection places special emphasis on quality, degree of innovation, and local added value for the sustainable development of Kiel. Through transparent awarding practices and uncomplicated application procedures, the fund offers diverse opportunities to further develop Kiel into a CO₂-reduced, socially just, and ecologically sustainable city.
