Description
The RheinEnergie Foundation (Cologne) supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public entities in North Rhine-Westphalia with time-limited seed funding for innovative model projects. The focus is on initiatives in culture, education, vocational training and further education, research & innovation, as well as science. Additionally, funds are allocated to engagement for social cohesion and democracy, culture & media, and labor & social affairs. Only projects based within the RheinEnergie supply area are funded, which, through their model character and innovative content, set new impulses and complement existing structures. The maximum duration is 36 months; fundraising campaigns or ongoing operating costs without an innovative approach are not eligible for funding.
To apply, proof of non-profit status and a detailed concept demonstrating innovation potential and model character are required. Selection is based on alignment with the funding priorities, degree of innovation, and exemplary character within the RheinEnergie supply area. Applications must be submitted online; funding guidelines and an application form are available. The next submission deadlines are August 31, 2026 (autumn) and February 28, 2027 (spring); scientific applications can only be submitted by August 31 of each year. A personal consultation prior to application submission is recommended to clarify the project's suitability and to optimally frame its chances of success.
