Description
The Visual Arts Project Fund of the Goethe-Institut supports cross-border artistic and curatorial collaborations to strengthen the international networking of cultural professionals from Germany and at least one other country. Funding is provided to professionally active artists, curators, art educators, and theorists who jointly develop innovative formats and conduct discourses across national and continental borders. The fund invites the realization of complex project structures, experimentation with interdisciplinary presentation forms, and the establishment of sustainable, dialogical collaboration models that focus on diversity and critical resource use.
Within a maximum duration of twelve months, grants of up to €25,000 can be applied for. Eligible expenses include fees, travel, accommodation and visa costs, temporary venue rentals, production costs, as well as daily allowances according to the Federal Travel Expenses Act. Ongoing fixed costs and projects that have already commenced are not supported. Applications must be submitted in English and include at least two equal partners from Germany and another country. Selection is based on a solid financial plan (with at least 10% own or third-party funding), artistic quality, social relevance, as well as the sustainability and diversity concept of the project. Currently, applications are not possible as the funding round for 2026 is suspended. Interested parties are advised to await the reopening of the digital funding portal.
