Description

Sports Project Funding of the State of Saxony-Anhalt is a funding program available to non-profit organizations in the Saxony-Anhalt region for the implementation of innovative sports projects. The funding supports measures outside the regular training and competition operations. The focus is particularly on strengthening voluntary activities in children’s and youth sports, improving grassroots and competitive sports, as well as the targeted promotion of girls and women. This grant, which can cover up to 60% of the eligible total expenses, aims to provide lasting impulses for professional and non-profit sports development. The application documents – in copies by 31.08.2025 and in original by 30.09.2025 – must be submitted on time.

Within the scope of the funding, project-related expenses such as personnel costs, material costs, fees, travel expenses, and public relations expenditures are considered. The measure must be planned before the project start, and the applicant’s own contribution must be secured through own or third-party funds. The requirements stipulate that, in individual cases, the grant must exceed 1,000 euros and at least 10% of the eligible total expenses must be contributed as own funds. These criteria primarily support sports clubs, district and city sports associations, state specialist associations, as well as sponsoring clubs that wish to implement innovative projects to improve sports infrastructure and ensure equal participation in sports offerings. Through cooperation with external partners such as daycare centers, schools, or companies, integrative and target group-specific offers are to be further developed.

The funding program is aimed at organizations that wish to use the funding as an impetus for further developing their non-profit status and attracting new members. In addition to a detailed project description, the application documents must also include the current statutes, an excerpt from the register of associations, and proof of non-profit status. All information will be assessed based on evaluation criteria such as evidence of support for voluntary activities, the innovative content of the project, and the contribution to the integration and promotion of girls and women. This funding can create long-term and sustainable structures in sports that strengthen both grassroots and competitive sports and enable forward-looking measures.
