Description

The project and scholarship funding of the Wagener Foundation supports individuals, groups of people, as well as non-profit and public institutions nationwide that are dedicated to science and research in the field of social pediatrics. The goal is to improve the quality of care for children, adolescents, and their families who are affected by or at risk of physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. Both scientific research projects and training events, as well as training and research scholarships, each with a duration of up to twelve months, are funded. The foundation partially covers personnel and material costs, provided the overall financing of the project is secured, and excludes commercial projects. Close cooperation with professional societies and scientific institutions ensures practical exchange between research, therapy, and psychosocial care.

Interested applicants submit their documents to the office largely informally by April 30 and October 31 of each year. Required are a cover sheet, a detailed project description including objectives, content, and costs, a financing and timeline plan, as well as – for institutions – a tax exemption certificate from the tax office and a brief description of the institution. For scholarship applications, additional information about the applicant, previous scientific activity, the intended use, and the requested scholarship amount must be provided. The decision-making authority lies with the foundation’s board; submission of an application does not establish a legal claim to funding. Through the awarding of grants, the Wagener Foundation promotes effective research approaches and training measures that contribute to the advancement of social pediatrics and provide sustainable impulses for science and practice.
