The Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt supports artistic endeavors in visual, applied and performing arts, photography, literature, music, film, design, architecture, and media art, as well as interdisciplinary projects. Funding is provided for individual projects or project components, as well as publications, catalogues raisonnés, and art acquisitions, with the aim of enhancing originality, quality, and feasibility, and making the cultural diversity of Saxony-Anhalt visible.

Description
The Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt supports innovative artistic projects in the Saxony-Anhalt region through its project grants. Eligible to apply are individual artists, artist collectives, as well as legal entities such as non-profit associations, foundations, or companies with their registered office or main residence in the state. Funding is provided for individual projects and project components in the fields of fine and applied arts, performing arts, photography, literature, music, film, design, architecture, and media art – including interdisciplinary approaches. In addition to artistic services, fees, material and travel expenses, marketing and concept development, printing and production costs for publications, website design, consultant fees, as well as student assistants and documentation costs are supported. The funding share generally amounts to up to 50% of the total costs (projects up to €5,000 can be funded at 100%; art acquisitions up to 80%). Decisive criteria are originality, quality, feasibility, and the supraregional to international visibility of the projects. Special attention is given to projects with sustainable impact for children and youth and cross-disciplinary concepts.
Applications for a funding period starting from January 2027 can be submitted until June 8, 2026, 11:59 p.m. A prerequisite is a fully developed application for a project that has not yet started at the time of submission. The application package includes a detailed project description, financing plan, and proof of artistic activity (CV, work samples, previous publications or exhibitions) as well as – in the case of legal applicants – statutes and tax exemption certificate. A professional review by the artistic advisory board ensures the high quality of the selection. The goal is to strengthen contemporary artistic production in Saxony-Anhalt and to make cultural diversity visible.
