Description
The ZURÜCKGEBEN Foundation awards individual project grants of up to €8,000 for the funding year 2027 to Jewish women residing in Germany. The aim is to recognize and support independent initiatives in all artistic and scientific disciplines. Funding is provided, for example, for film, literature, visual and performing arts, as well as humanities and natural science research projects, ideally with a thematic connection to Jewish life worlds. Applications can be submitted electronically as a single PDF file (max. 8 MB) from April 13 to July 15, 2026. A prerequisite for funding, in addition to residence in Germany, is the recognition of the IHRA working definition of antisemitism; a maximum of one project per applicant will be considered. Services provided by third parties, such as printing, editing, or translation costs by external service providers, are not eligible for funding.
The complete application must include a completed and signed application form, a project description (2–3 pages), a tabular schedule, a detailed financial plan, a CV with biographical reference to Judaism, and, if applicable, an exposé or sample chapter. Upon receipt of the documents, an independent jury will confirm its selection decision in November 2026. Payment will be made directly to the grantee via a scholarship contract. Since 1994, the ZURÜCKGEBEN Foundation has supported over 200 projects, thereby making a unique contribution to the visibility of Jewish female artists and scholars in Germany.
