Description

The funding program PV canopy for parking lots in Lower Austria supports public, non-profit, and commercial applicants in the installation of grid-connected photovoltaic canopies on existing, paved, and freely publicly accessible parking areas. The aim of the regional funding is sustainable electricity production from renewable energies, optimal land use of already sealed sites, as well as improved comfort through protection from weather influences and overheating. Projects with at least 10 parking spaces and a PV capacity from 20 kWp are eligible for funding. Public authorities, companies, associations, and religious institutions may submit one funding application per legal entity. The maximum funding amount is EUR 750 per kWp of module capacity, 45% of the environmentally relevant additional costs, and up to EUR 200,000 per project.

A prerequisite for application is that the parking lot has existed in its current form for at least three years and is freely accessible for at least eight hours per day on five days per week. Excluded are company-owned parking areas and private residential parking spaces. Eligible expenses include, among others, roof construction, foundation and restoration work, lightning protection, control and regulation devices, as well as e-charging station(s) and planning costs up to 10% of the project costs. Non-eligible costs include surface works (except foundation work), markings, signage, lighting, battery storage, or operating costs. Implementation must begin within 18 months after the funding commitment; billing and final documentation must be submitted within this period. Submissions are accepted until 30.06.2026; the jury decision and funding commitment are expected by 30.09.2026.
