Offered as a grant, private individuals, associations, interest groups, non-profit organizations, and public institutions can submit applications at any time. Funded measures include the creation of communal green spaces, the establishment of meeting places, events and educational offerings, as well as material and in-kind costs, provided there is a clear connection to the neighborhoods and active involvement of the residents. Projects must be oriented towards the common good and sustainable, promote personal responsibility and self-help, and benefit as many residents as possible. Eligible expenses particularly include costs for shared recreational structures, cultural and educational activities, and the strengthening of neighborhood contacts. Costs incurred before approval, ongoing operational and material costs, regular personnel costs of the applicants, as well as expenses without direct relation to the measures, are not eligible for funding.
To apply, the completed form for East or North must be submitted along with, if applicable, a current certificate of non-profit status. After a positive review, a written approval is issued specifying the funding amount and possible conditions. The final accounting, to be submitted within six weeks after the project’s completion, includes a brief documentation, proof of expenditures, and, if applicable, photo or press evidence. Selection is based on criteria such as neighborhood-related benefits, activation of citizens, strengthening of district culture, and identification with the neighborhood. Through flexible funding conditions and continuous application opportunities, this program supports committed initiatives in jointly further developing Halle’s East and North districts.
