Description
An investment initiative in Carinthia promotes high-quality and contemporary cycling infrastructure at the local and operational levels from March 25, 2024, in order to effectively extend the pre-season. Initiators from tourism associations, regional organizations, municipalities, as well as accommodation and gastronomy businesses can submit applications continuously until the budget is exhausted. The measures aim to create an attractive and safe cycling offer and to increase the length of stay of guests in the pre- and post-season. A prerequisite for funding is a total investment of at least €5,000, which must be submitted in writing in full before implementation. Only projects that are available from the start of the season and demonstrably contribute to the extension of the season are eligible for funding.
Eligible measures include, among others, lockable bicycle storage rooms, bicycle parking facilities, weatherproof shelters and charging stations for e-bikes, as well as service and washing stations, drying facilities for sportswear, and the acquisition of rental bikes. The funding amount is a maximum of €10,000 per applicant with a funding rate of 50% of eligible expenses. Personnel and in-house services, marketing and consulting costs, general signage measures, ongoing operating costs, and expenses incurred before the application submission are not eligible for funding. A concept of the planned measures, a detailed itemized cost breakdown, and a financing plan are part of the complete application documents. The award is granted as a non-repayable grant in accordance with EU state aid guidelines, as long as budget funds are available.
