Description
The Sir Hugh Carleton Greene Foundation is awarding the Research Fellowship in Economics/Finance for the first time, endowed with €4,000 and open nationwide. The aim is to support independent research projects by young journalists up to 35 years old who wish to present complex economic and financial policy topics in an accessible manner for a broad audience. Projects from the fields of macroeconomics, economic policy, corporate reporting, and stock market coverage are eligible – ranging from traditional business magazines to locally anchored media work. With this, the Foundation places a focus on well-founded economic journalism and contributes to strengthening democratic opinion formation through qualified emerging professionals.
Applicants must demonstrate journalistic training or equivalent experience, reside and work professionally in Germany, and meet the maximum age limit of 35 years at the time of submission. Only one project proposal per applicant is permitted. The application period runs from May 15 to August 31, 2026. Required documents include a cover letter with contact details, a recent portrait photo, a tabular CV, a project exposé with a timeline and research plan, as well as a link to a short video (max. 90 seconds). After review by the advisory board, applicants will be notified in writing. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 27, 2026, in Hanover. This fellowship offers journalists a unique opportunity to expand their economic journalism skills and establish themselves as experts in a demanding field.
