Description
The Rainbow Protection Fund supports CSD organizers from small and medium-sized cities across Germany in safely conducting queer events against right-wing extremist disruptions. With ongoing funding opportunities, the fund promotes both security measures including legal advice as well as material and fee expenses to enable Pride demonstrations and accompanying programs to take place publicly effective and protected in structurally weak regions. The goal is to strengthen civil society resistance and social cohesion through visible solidarity with LGBTIQ* communities, which have increasingly become targets of right-wing extremist attacks. The grant is explicitly aimed at non-profit organizations and public law entities committed to democratic participation and human rights.
Eligible to apply are legally capable non-profit organizations and public institutions that submit their funding requests via the digital application form. Eligible expenses particularly include costs for security concepts, personnel costs for trained experts, insurance coverage, as well as fees for accompanying programs. Projects are evaluated based on their consistent stance against right-wing extremism, strengthening local self-organization, and building sustainable structures. Application and proof of use require, among other documents, statutes, exemption notices, and register excerpts. Applications can be submitted at any time; decisions for amounts up to 2,500 euros are made continuously, while higher amounts are decided in biannual committee meetings. This fund provides local initiatives with reliable support to secure queer visibility and democratic participation in rural and medium-sized urban contexts.
