Description
The Regional Budget for Small Projects in North Rhine-Westphalia specifically supports committed initiatives in rural areas that serve integrated rural development (GAK funding area 1) and seamlessly align with the Regional Development Strategy (RES) of the respective LEADER region. Through the local action groups (LAG), up to 180,000 euros per LEADER region are made available annually, with projects funded at a rate of up to 80 percent of eligible costs. The funds flow into diverse small projects, ranging from modernized community centers to innovative agricultural ventures and nature conservation initiatives, thereby sustainably contributing to the strengthening of rural areas.
Eligible applicants include municipalities, small businesses, associations, interest groups, as well as natural persons and partnerships, provided the planned project is implemented within a LEADER region and meets the funding requirements. Submissions are evaluated based on their alignment with the RES and their contribution to integrated rural development. Applications must be submitted directly to the regional management offices of the respective LEADER regions following a public call. Careful coordination with the regional managers ensures eligibility for funding and increases the chances of success. Through this structure, the program promotes decentralized project development and strengthens the social and economic potential of rural communities.
