Description
The regional funding program of Saarland supports small and medium-sized enterprises in the commercial sector in selected municipalities of the St. Wendel district and the Saarpfalz district with investments in the areas of regional development, infrastructure, as well as urban and rural development. The initiative aims at the establishment, expansion, and modernization of business premises as well as capacity expansion and fundamental redesign of production processes. Both establishment and expansion investments are funded, including the acquisition of closed business premises and the introduction of new product lines. The funding contributes to the sustainable creation and securing of jobs and training positions and sustainably increases the regional income level.
The grant rate amounts to up to 20% of eligible costs for small enterprises and 10% for medium-sized enterprises, with a maximum of €7.5 million per project. For modernizations of production processes, funding of up to €200,000 can be applied for within three fiscal years. A key requirement is SME status according to the EU definition, a minimum equity contribution of 25%, and secured overall financing. The project must be completed within 36 months. A funding application must be submitted bindingly to the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digitalization, and Energy before the start of the project.
