Description
The Regional Culture Program in the Ruhr area supports sustainable cooperation and networking projects that sharpen the cultural profile of the Ruhr metropolitan region while artistically responding to the structural transformation of the area. Eligible to apply are private individuals, associations, interest groups, and companies from across North Rhine-Westphalia. A prerequisite for a successful submission is prior consultation at the regional cultural office as well as a project data sheet with at least three partners from two cities/municipalities, which must be submitted annually by September 30. Building on this, the formal funding application must be submitted to the responsible district government by November 30. Funding covers personnel costs, material and marketing expenses, travel costs, fees, as well as civic engagement, with a funding rate of 50% to 80% and a duration of twelve to 36 months. A personal contribution of ten percent of the eligible total expenses is also part of the award criteria, as are artistic quality, the innovative character, and the regional networking of the proposed projects.
Projects benefit not only from financial support but also from a dense network that strengthens cultural participation locally. Only projects that engage in cross-city cooperation, present the region in a binding manner, and visibly involve all partners in marketing terms are funded. Representation expenses and construction measures are not eligible. In addition to the project data sheet, a detailed project description, a detailed cost and financing plan, and proof of the consultation meeting must be uploaded. The project start is possible no earlier than January 1, 2025. The program invites actors from the independent scene, cultural institutions, associations, and committed individuals to creatively shape and anchor cultural cohesion in the Ruhr area in the long term.
