Description

The Travel and Visiting Fellowship of the Günther Haenisch Research and Study Foundation of North German Surgeons is aimed at young surgical residents from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania who plan a subject-related visiting period at a surgical center in Northern Germany (Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein). The purpose of the funding is to strengthen international exchange and promote knowledge transfer in surgical training. The foundation covers individually appropriate costs for travel and accommodation, so that professional exchange in everyday practice is the main focus. Through this support, participants have the opportunity to learn about innovative treatment methods and organizational structures in one of Northern Germany’s leading surgical centers and to transfer these to their home clinics.

For a successful application, a detailed project description of the planned visiting period must be submitted, supplemented by a letter of support from the respective chief physician as well as a brief curriculum vitae. Funding can be applied for year-round, as applications are accepted at any time. Travel and accommodation expenses are considered eligible costs and are covered after individual review. The fellowship offers an ideal opportunity to deepen personal training and build international networks. Interested residents from the Baltic countries are invited to submit their documents to the Günther Haenisch Research and Study Foundation of North German Surgeons and thus make a valuable contribution to the advancement of surgical education.
