Description
The Goethe-Institut e.V. supports professional musicians and music educators based in Germany in carrying out artistic-pedagogical music projects abroad. The aim of the travel cost funding is to enable participatory and collaborative mediation formats that strengthen both individual qualification and collective musical participation. It is recommended to plan approximately five workshop days per project; concert components are possible but must not overshadow the pedagogical focus. Eligible expenses include travel costs, any additional costs arising from choosing sustainable means of transport, and access costs for people with disabilities. Excluded are trips to German-speaking countries abroad, purely charitable or socio-political educational projects, tourist trips, family visits, school and university projects, folkloric events, as well as projects with partisan political, religious, or ideological content.
Selection is based on artistic-pedagogical quality, a coherent concept with convincing motivation, demonstrated cultural and methodological expertise, and balanced partnerships with local institutions. Applicants must submit a completed online application form, an artistic biography including references to teaching and workshop experience, a detailed project description including the mediation concept, a concrete schedule and timeline, a financing plan, confirmation from the international cooperation partner, and two cost estimates. Applications can be submitted year-round and should be received at least three months before the project start date. Full funding is excluded; a prior approval for early commencement of measures can be requested informally. The funding offer takes into account the importance of sustainable mobility and encourages the planning of environmentally friendly travel routes.
