Description
Within the framework of the EU initiative "Strengthening Civil Society Organizations in Burundi," civil society actors in Burundi are specifically supported to enhance their capacities in the areas of democracy, human rights, social participation, and sustainable development. Non-profit organizations, interest groups, and other associations with headquarters and operational activities in Burundi may apply for a grant. By providing funds and promoting participatory processes, democratic structures are to be expanded and local development projects supported. The goal is to build more resilient structures in the long term that enable a sustainable improvement of living conditions in rural regions and urban centers.
Applications are possible until March 24, 2026. Applicants must be registered as civil society organizations, have reliable financial management, and demonstrate experience in democracy or development policy projects. Interested organizations must submit, in addition to a fully completed application form, a brief description as well as supplementary documents in accordance with the Lignes Directrices OSC 185435 and the Corrigendum éligibilité des demandeurs. The final decision is made by the European Commission, which, as the EU's executive body, manages funding in numerous fields of action. Through its close alignment with local needs and participatory processes, the program contributes to strengthening civil society in Burundi and sustainably promotes democratic participation and development.
