Description
The transnational funding “Research infrastructures as accelerators of the integration of Ukraine in the European Research Area” aims to network European and Ukrainian research infrastructures in joint projects and to facilitate remote access for Ukrainian researchers to modernized, high-performance facilities within the European Research Area (ERA). Consortia consisting of at least three independent legal entities from EU Member States or associated countries – including educational and research institutions, companies, and public institutions – of which at least one is based in Ukraine, may submit an application by 16.06.2026. The funding rate is 100% with a total funding amount of €8 million. The program supports the planning and implementation of modernization measures, the development of implementation plans for the reconstruction roadmap, as well as interdisciplinary exchange to rapidly integrate Ukrainian researchers into ERA networks. Eligible expenses include costs for research and innovation, personnel and material resources, coordination and dissemination activities, as well as access to third-party infrastructures.
Excellence in research and innovation, contribution to achieving the ERA objectives, and the efficiency of project implementation are supported. Applications must include an application form (Part A) and a project description (Part B), as well as a financial plan and legal documentation. Ineligible are real estate acquisitions, retrospective costs, and commercial mass production. Evaluation is conducted by independent experts based on the criteria of excellence, impact, and implementation efficiency. Results are expected to be communicated approximately five months after submission, with project start planned from March 2026. The European Commission, as the executive body, ensures that the consortium collaboration creates sustainable synergies and that Ukrainian research institutions are efficiently integrated into the ERA.
