Description
The Free State of Saxony supports targeted investments in vocational training – inter-company vocational training centers (ÜBS) – as well as infrastructure and urban development through the Vocational Education Directive. Operators of inter-company vocational training centers receive a flat-rate subsidy amounting to 15% of the eligible expenses. The program promotes both the modernization of existing learning and workshop spaces and the restructuring into a contemporary competence center. The measure aims to strengthen regional skilled labor security, bring technical equipment up to the latest standards, and establish a sustainable educational infrastructure.
Eligible applicants include educational institutions, public institutions, interest groups, and other associations – primarily chambers of crafts, chambers of industry and commerce, as well as professional associations and organizations of the crafts sector. Funding requirements include proof of need, necessity, and appropriateness, approval from the responsible chamber for new constructions, economic usability of the facility, and securing overall financing. The Saxon Development Bank (SAB), as the central funding agency of the SMWA, supports the application process and disbursement, while complementary federal funds accompany the state subsidy. This funding enables inter-company training centers in Saxony to be future-proofed and expanded as central educational locations for skilled workers.
