Description
Every three years, the Reinhard-Süring Foundation honors young scientists whose doctoral degree was completed no more than five years ago and who are under 40 years old, with the Climate Prize and the Research Prize for outstanding contributions in meteorology and climatology. Nominations are made exclusively by third parties; self-nominations are excluded. Proposed works must be published in a scientific journal or accepted for publication. The award is based on the originality and innovativeness of the approach, the scientific presentation of the results, as well as the potential application prospects of the research findings. The prize money for the Research Prize amounts to €1,500; the endowment of the Climate Prize is determined for each call.
The award ceremony takes place in a festive setting at a professional conference and aims to visibly honor early-career researchers as well as encourage further networking. Applications must include the nomination justification letter and a copy or a link to the proposed publication. The application deadline is at least three months after the announcement and is published nationwide. Through these awards, the Foundation promotes the recognition of innovative research projects and strengthens the development of early career scientists in climate and atmospheric research.
