Description

The "Saxon Small Projects Fund for Development Cooperation" is aimed at non-profit associations based in the Free State of Saxony that initiate sustainable measures in partnership with organizations in developing countries to improve the material living conditions of disadvantaged groups. Projects are supported in a wide range of thematic areas such as education, medical care and infrastructure, environmental and climate protection, agriculture and food security, gender equality, digitalization, energy efficiency, as well as disaster relief and the strengthening of human rights. With a focus on involving target groups throughout the entire project cycle, self-organization processes are strengthened and local capacities are sustainably developed. Migrant-diaspora non-governmental organizations are also explicitly invited to apply in order to leverage their local knowledge to create effective development impulses. In parallel, the Nord-Süd-Brücken Foundation offers training opportunities in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation to enhance the development policy skills of the implementing organizations.

Funding is provided as a grant with a funding rate of up to 75% of eligible expenses, and in prioritized countries (e.g., Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ukraine) even up to 80%, with a maximum funding amount of €25,000 per project. Applications for projects with a financial volume of up to €6,000 can be submitted at any time by the 20th of each month; for higher amounts, the deadlines of the Nord-Süd-Brücken Foundation apply. A prerequisite is cooperation with partner organizations according to the DAC list, verifiable involvement of the target groups, and ensuring project sustainability beyond the funding period. This continuous funding instrument enables Saxony’s non-profit associations to gain development policy experience, establish long-term partnerships, and make a tangible contribution to global development cooperation.
