Saxon Beacon

The Engagement Foundation Saxony and Pokale Meier, together with the Saxon Beacon, honor outstanding voluntary work by private individuals in Saxony. Starting in May 2025, an independent jury will select their choice from submitted nominations each month to bring silent heroes into the spotlight and publicly recognize their commitment. The goal is to honor impressive contributions to social cohesion and democracy in the region and to highlight the inspiring power of individual initiatives. As a form of award, the recipients receive a personalized recognition that honors their exceptional civic engagement and sets further impulses for a vibrant civil society.

All those who are passionately and wholeheartedly engaged in voluntary work in Saxony and serve as role models through their activities are invited to participate. A prerequisite for application is successful voluntary service in Saxony, described in a nomination form. Evaluation is based on the concrete impact of the engagement as well as the inspiring effect of the individual stories. Ongoing nominations allow for timely recognition of previously undiscovered contributions. The award aims to generate motivating impulses that encourage others to also commit themselves to work & social issues, democratic values, and local cohesion.
