Description
In Upper Austria, owners of houses with up to three apartments can receive financial support for comprehensive renovation measures. Funding is provided for the repair and energy-efficient modernization of the building envelope, the addition and conversion of extra living spaces, as well as structural adaptations for increased care needs. A prerequisite is a building permit that is at least 20 years old (ten years for additions/conversions), proof of meeting the minimum energy requirements through a report from the Upper Austrian Energy Saving Association, and the submission of invoices starting from 150 euros, which are no older than two years. Eligible expenses include renovation work, preservation of the building fabric, expansion of living space, and the energy report, while interior finishing, heating technology systems, and secondary or holiday residences are excluded. The funding rates range between 15% and 25% of the recognized costs depending on the measure, up to a maximum of 50,000 euros per project.
Applications can be submitted continuously and without limitation. Approval is granted by the Housing Subsidy Department of the Upper Austrian State Government and is based on minimum energy requirements, the age of the building permit, compliance with income limits for owner-occupancy, and the size of the house with a maximum of three apartments. Required application documents include a current land register excerpt, floor plans, building permit or building notification, the energy report, invoices and proof of payment, income statements, and registration certificates of all residents; applicants from outside the EEA must submit additional documents. This funding program offers a reliable subsidy framework for the modernization and barrier-free adaptation of owner-occupied housing in Upper Austria.
