Renovation and Expansion of Residential Buildings in Upper Austria
This funding program supports the repair and expansion of existing residential buildings with more than three apartments as well as the conversion of buildings previously not used for residential purposes. Private owners, non-profit organizations, and companies can apply for a non-repayable grant at any time. According to the Upper Austrian Residential Building Renovation Regulation II 2020, renovation and installation measures carried out by professionally authorized trades or verified material costs from €1,000 per invoice are eligible for funding. The minimum costs amount to €50 per square meter, and the building permit must be at least 20 years old. For expansion measures involving additions and extensions, a 10-year period applies. It is essential that no construction project is started before a funding commitment is granted; however, an early start of construction can be approved upon request.
Scope of Funding and Requirements
The funding amount is 25% of the recognized renovation costs, up to a maximum of €1,000 per square meter of living space. Grants do not apply to the renewal of heating systems and value-added tax. In addition to construction, material, and labor costs, expenses for construction management and supervision can be considered. Prerequisites for an application include, among others, a legally binding building permit, a current land register excerpt, approved construction and existing plans, as well as a detailed project and financing description. The funding is particularly suitable for homeowners and condominium associations who wish to implement sustainable modernization measures in multi-unit residential complexes.
