Description
The special funding initiative “Clean Heating for All, BGLD 2026” targets low-income private households in Burgenland who own at least 50% of a single-family, two-family, or terraced house and have established their primary residence before 31.12.2024. The objective is to replace fossil fuel heating systems (oil, gas, coal/coke, electric storage heaters) with climate-friendly alternatives such as local/district heating connections, central wood heating systems, or heat pumps. The funding, provided as a non-repayable grant, covers 100% of the environmentally relevant costs up to a technology-specific ceiling (e.g., up to €37,550 for brine/water heat pumps). Eligible costs include planning, procurement and installation including adjustments, heating controls, storage, excavation work, as well as dismantling and disposal costs. Expenses for heat distribution within the building, individual room controls, thermostatic valves, and own labor are not eligible.
The multi-stage application process begins with online registration from 01.01.2026 until 31.12.2026 at the latest or while funds last. After formal review, an income assessment and binding energy consultation are conducted by the state funding office. Subsequently, a link to submit the application via Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC) is provided, followed by project implementation within nine months. The final accounting, including all final invoices, energy consultation protocol, and commissioning confirmation, must be submitted using the provided final accounting form. Required documents for application submission include, among others, land register excerpt, private household confirmation, and proof of social assistance or ORF exemption. This funding package effectively supports the transition to highly efficient heating technologies, increases energy efficiency, and makes an important contribution to climate and environmental protection in Burgenland.
