The grant program in Saarland supports the creation of barrier-free rental housing according to DIN 18040-2 in new construction and comprehensive renovation or modernization measures. Public institutions, companies, and private individuals acting as builders in the region who newly construct barrier-free and fully wheelchair-accessible apartments (R-standard) or adapt existing ones with substantial construction effort can continuously submit applications to the Saarländische Investitionskreditbank AG (SIKB) before the start of construction. Allocation is based on criteria such as the extent and standard of the barrier-free area, cost and financing structure, and social commitments. Project description, financing plan, building permit, proof of equity, as well as application forms from SIKB and the housing entitlement certificate must be submitted continuously. Submissions can be made without a fixed deadline before the start of construction.
