Funding objective

Students from financially disadvantaged and large families attending general compulsory schools (up to and including the 9th grade) in Burgenland shall be granted financial support in the form of home and school allowances. Additionally, the funding serves to assist Burgenland students, taking into account their social situation, during temporary school stays abroad.

Description

The Student Allowance Program of the State of Burgenland is aimed at financially disadvantaged and large private households with children attending a general compulsory school up to and including the 9th grade in Burgenland. In the form of a 100% grant, both boarding and school allowances are provided to strengthen equal opportunities in education. Additionally, the funding includes temporary school stays abroad, with the social situation of the applicants being the primary focus. Applications can be submitted continuously, offering families reliable financial relief for educational and childcare costs.

A positive funding decision requires proof of need according to regional legal provisions, attendance at a general compulsory school in Burgenland before reaching the age of 35, as well as Austrian or EEA citizenship or a comparable residence status. Refugees within the meaning of the Geneva Refugee Convention are also eligible to apply. For the application, a completed funding application and proof of income of the legal guardians are required. Through this transparent and low-threshold funding structure, the State of Burgenland makes a significant contribution to securing equal opportunities in education and supports families in providing their children with a solid educational foundation.
