Description
The Sanddorf Foundation supports public schools throughout Germany in organizing educationally supervised student trips to Poland in order to strengthen German-Polish intercultural understanding. Trips from all types of schools are eligible for funding; in exceptional cases, fee-based private schools may also be considered upon consultation. A focus is placed on thorough content-related preparation and follow-up, encompassing historical, cultural, and socio-political aspects. The foundation provides a one-time grant for this purpose and requires, upon completion of the trip, verifiable proof of expenditure as well as a public report, for example in the school newspaper or digital media.
Up to €4,000 can be approved per trip and school, with a maximum of €200 per participating student. Eligible expenses include travel costs, accommodation and meals, as well as project-related incidental expenses; costs for teaching staff and infrastructural projects are excluded. Applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis but should be filed at least three months prior to the start of the trip. The application must include a completed application form, a project description with an educational concept, a cost and financing plan, and the current tax exemption certificate. After review by the foundation’s committees, funds will be disbursed only upon submission of all accounting documents.
