Description
The Dürr Foundation Hamburg annually awards ten high-achieving students in the eleventh and twelfth grades in Hamburg with a two-year prize within the framework of the J. and E. Frauendorfer Support Foundation. Two scholarship recipients benefit over 24 months from a monthly education allowance of €100, participate in professionally and personally tailored educational seminars, and gain valuable experience through excursions, cultural events, and group activities. The support package is complemented by individual case assistance and the provision of a company-owned laptop to strengthen digital skills and ensure equal opportunities also in technical terms. Selection is based on academic performance, social engagement, and demonstrated financial need, aiming to specifically support those whose family circumstances make the path to the Abitur more difficult.
The program aims to impart both subject-specific and interdisciplinary skills that are crucial for a successful graduation and a confident role in the community. Five mandatory workshop weekends per year promote personal exchange among like-minded peers and enable the scholarship holders to independently choose individual focus areas—such as presentation techniques or time management. Accompanying tutors assist with Abitur preparation and advise on questions regarding study and career choices. Through this comprehensive support, not only academic success is pursued but also social development is strengthened, thereby sustainably preparing the young talents for future challenges.
