Description
The program "We Want to Be Bully-Free!!" supports primary schools nationwide in Germany to carry out effective prevention work against bullying and cyberbullying starting with the youngest students. Under the sponsorship of the Stop Bullying Foundation, Strengthening Children – Foundation Against Bullying and Cyberbullying, age-appropriate school events are offered that specifically address students in the third and fourth grades as well as their teachers. Using multimedia content and evidence-based methods from the research group of Prof. Dr. Mechthild Schäfer (University of Munich), the events impart a deep understanding of bullying dynamics and promote empathy, self-efficacy, and a sense of responsibility. Municipal sponsors, cities, and communities can request the events at any time and receive a subsidy for hosting them at public and educational institutions. Since its launch in October 2019, the program has established itself as a permanent component of school-based child and youth education and makes an important contribution to fostering a respectful classroom climate.
The continuously funded support is aimed at all primary schools in Germany that wish to integrate the anti-bullying program into their school development. Following the school event, participating schools can take advantage of teacher training sessions to sustainably embed the learned methods into everyday school life. This empowers the educational team to cultivate a positive culture of interaction and to break bullying structures in the long term. The application process is straightforward and without a fixed deadline: cities, municipalities, or schools send an informal request and coordinate the event schedule with the program coordinators. This creates a tailored prevention offering that strengthens children, prevents bullying, and promotes social cohesion.
