Description
In the Styria region, the city of Graz offers an income-dependent subsidy for school day care at primary, middle, and special schools, thereby focusing on the funding areas of social affairs, children and youth, education, labor & social services, as well as training and further education. This permanent funding measure enables needs-based relief for families by linking parental contributions on a sliding scale to net family income. The goal is, on the one hand, to support the burden sharing between parents and childless individuals and, on the other hand, to promote the compatibility of family and work through reliable afternoon care. Families with multiple children and single parents benefit from an additional reduction in the contribution level.
Eligible for funding are private individuals with their main residence in Graz whose children are registered for school day care. A prerequisite is registration at a Graz school with day care and the submission of proof of family net income. Required documents include, for example, the employee tax assessment or annual wage statement, the income tax assessment notice or a confirmation from the tax advisor, the family allowance notice for multiple children, as well as maintenance agreements or divorce decrees and an insurance data extract or confirmation of unemployment, minimum income support, or maternity allowance. Applications are free of charge, can be submitted at any time, and have been valid indefinitely since April 19, 2012.
