Description

Shaping the Future is a nationwide funding program of the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth, aimed at recruiting and integrating qualified professionals in early childhood education from third countries, particularly Colombia, into the labor market. Public institutions and companies can apply for funding within a single-stage procedure to support university graduates in early childhood education on their journey from application in Colombia to permanent employment in Germany. The Central Foreign and Specialist Placement Office (ZAV) of the Federal Employment Agency coordinates the program in close cooperation with the Colombian Public Employment Service (SPE) and provides personal contacts in both countries. Regular video conferences and comprehensive process support ensure a transparent procedure and enable participants a smooth transition into the German labor market.

Eligible expenses include a monthly scholarship during participation in Colombia, free German language courses including examinations, support with university recognition (Homologación), visa and work permit fees, as well as flight costs to Germany. Participation requires a degree in early childhood education (Título universitario), a current certificate of good conduct, and active cooperation in obtaining all necessary documents. Furthermore, a commitment to intensive language support until the targeted language proficiency level is achieved is mandatory. Upon full recognition, professionals gain a long-term perspective with a permanent employment contract and further training opportunities within the German education system.
