Description
Since 1994, the Siemerling Social Award of the Dreikönigs Foundation has honored outstanding civic spirit, voluntary commitment, and innovative efforts in social work in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. With an endowment of €10,000, the award is aimed at individuals, initiatives, or non-profit organizations that operate on a Christian-humanist, cultural, or social basis and provide a tangible added value to the community free of charge. In addition to the financial grant, the awardees receive a bronze reliquary "The Lamb in the Open Book," created by Franciscan Father Laurentius Englisch, symbolically referring to the "Book of Life" and the hope for redemption.
The award is based on clearly defined criteria: selfless service, continuity of commitment, demonstrable positive impact on society, personal dedication, and support from third parties. Proposals are encouraged that demonstrate how engagement and ingenuity improve life situations and strengthen democratic cohesion. The funding is ongoing; submissions are made via a standardized proposal form with brief details of the service and information about the proposer. The selection reflects the goal of preserving the memory of personalities from the Siemerling family, who assumed social responsibility over generations and shaped the community in Northeast Germany.
