Description
The Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. continuously awards grants of up to €5,000 within the framework of the funding program “Small Change for Culture & History” for non-profit cultural and historical projects in the EU. Funding is provided for initiatives by non-profit organizations or private individuals in cooperation with such entities that aim to make a noticeable difference with comparatively modest resources. Special emphasis is placed on the inclusion of marginalized target groups, critical engagement with German and European history of the 20th century, remembrance culture, and monument preservation. Eligible projects must have a total volume of no more than €25,000 and a verifiable in-kind or financial contribution. Eligible expenses include material and supply costs, fees, and monument preservation, while ongoing personnel costs, capital goods, printing subsidies, and scientific research projects are excluded. One application per fiscal year is permitted; complete documentation consists of the completed application form and the cost and financing plan (template).
Selection is based on alignment with the foundation’s objectives, the effectiveness of small amounts, the applicant’s own contribution, as well as a clear description of target groups and expected impacts. “Small Change for Culture & History” understands culture as a place of encounter and discourse and primarily supports innovative, volunteer-driven, or impact-oriented initiatives against antisemitism, racism, and exclusion. Projects funded once will receive feedback on the decision within one month, without this creating any entitlement to funding.
