Small Change for Hamburg & Europe

The funding fund “Small Change for Hamburg & Europe” of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. is aimed at non-profit organizations, associations, civil society initiatives, artists, as well as private individuals in cooperation with a non-profit institution. With a budget of up to 5,000 euros, the fund supports small projects that strengthen social cohesion in the Hamburg metropolitan region and at the European level through intercultural exchange, cross-border dialogue, and creative engagement. Projects that bring together people from different backgrounds and countries, make diversity tangible, and initiate discourse are funded. Proof of an idealistic or material own contribution is required, as well as a clear alignment with the foundation’s goals, which promote European understanding and a pluralistic Hamburg. One-time funding is possible; ongoing institutional activities are not supported.

Applications can be submitted at any time; the foundation strives to make a decision within one month. A fully completed application form and a detailed cost and financing plan are required. Evaluation criteria include the concrete reference to Hamburg and Europe, the own contribution, and a precise description of the target groups and expected impacts. Non-fundable items include, among others, scholarships within the meaning of § 53 AO, subsidies for ongoing personnel costs, capital goods, printing cost subsidies, as well as scientific meetings or conferences.
