Funding objective
The funding is intended to enable the beneficiaries to make the initial acquisitions of devices required for the transition from analog radio to digital BOS radio. In particular, digital TETRA pagers and components for upgrading siren systems are supported in order to make alerting in fire services, emergency medical services, and disaster control in Bavaria future-proof.

Description
The special funding program Digital Radio for the procurement of BOS-TETRA pagers and siren control devices supports public institutions and non-profit organizations in Bavaria in the initial outfitting with certified digital alerting devices. Funding is provided particularly for APRT-TETRA pagers and systems to upgrade existing siren systems for digital TETRA alerting. The goal is the sustainable transition from analog to digital alerting to increase the efficiency and reliability of fire departments, emergency medical services, and disaster control throughout the Free State. The measures can be continuously applied for as a fixed-amount grant and cover up to 80% of eligible acquisition costs. Eligible for funding, in addition to BOS-TETRA pagers, are also vehicle radios (MRT), handheld radios (HRT), fixed radio stations (FRT), as well as necessary accessories and functions according to the specifications of the special funding program.
Eligible applicants are municipalities, land-based and air-based emergency medical services, the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians for emergency physicians and senior emergency physicians, as well as voluntary disaster relief organizations. A prerequisite for approval is that the project is implemented within the framework of the transition from analog radio to digital BOS radio, that the devices meet the requirements of the Authorized Body Bavaria, and that no delivery or service contract has yet been concluded. Leasing or hire purchase are excluded. The application process includes the submission of the alert receiver (pager) or siren control application form and submission via the Bavaria Portal to the respective competent government authority. Allocation is made within the available budgetary funds without legal entitlement. With this program, the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration makes an important contribution to the modernization and future security of official hazard prevention in Bavaria.
