Description

Since 2007, the Special Fund for Children of the Erlangen Citizens' Foundation has been supporting disadvantaged children and young people from Erlangen and the surrounding communities of Baiersdorf, Bubenreuth, Buckenhof, Heßdorf, Marloffstein, Möhrendorf, Spardorf, and Uttenreuth. As a continuously open grant initiative from Bavaria, it aims to effectively combat material poverty, emotional deprivation, and educational disadvantage. The areas of support range from school-based parent education projects to financial grants for teaching and learning materials, as well as emergency funds at schools in socially challenged areas. The effectiveness of the support is measured by the urgency of the individual case, the social needs of the children, and the sustainable improvement of their educational opportunities. Through a combination of individual case assistance and project-related measures, families in difficult life situations are relieved, and the individual development of the young people is promoted.

Eligible applicants include private individuals, non-profit organizations, and public institutions with residence or headquarters in Erlangen or the aforementioned surrounding communities. Applications can be submitted at any time; the application is made via a completed application form with a project or purpose description, a total cost breakdown, as well as proof of IBAN, account holder, and residence (if applicable, ErlangenPass). Optionally, up to five supplementary documents may be attached. The decision-making process takes into account not only the acute need but also the long-term impact of the funding. Gender-neutral language in funding texts and project descriptions ensures that all parties involved – from parents and teachers to experts and staff – are addressed and valued equally.
