Description

The Special Award "United in and through Crises" from the Darmstadt Sports Foundation honors innovative and solidarity-based approaches in the sports sector that have successfully responded to global and local crises since early 2022. Sports clubs and non-profit organizations from Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district are recognized for creative projects that promote social cohesion and offer sustainable solutions in times of pandemic, war, energy crisis, or natural disasters. With a prize sum of up to €5,000, the foundation aims to publicly highlight exemplary crisis management, inclusive initiatives, and climate-friendly measures, and to acknowledge their impact on sporting and community life.

Eligible to participate are all interest groups, clubs, and organizations based in the specified region that have established special sports projects for crisis management since January 2022. Evaluation criteria include creative crisis management, solidarity-based community-building behavior, and the contribution to conflict resolution and integration. An expert jury decides on the number of awards and the individual funding amount up to a maximum of €5,000. With this special award, the Darmstadt Sports Foundation seeks to strengthen local engagement, promote locally rooted action, and emphasize the central role of sports clubs as drivers of social resilience and cohesion.
