Description
Within the framework of the special projects in the field of art and culture in Vienna, innovative initiatives that fall outside the usual funding channels are supported. Designed as a grant, this funding aims at the sustainable anchoring of contemporary art in society and creates stable conditions for artists. Eligible to apply are individuals, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, interest groups, and associations with Austrian citizenship or permanent residence in Austria. The program thematically covers the fields of culture as well as culture & media and enables needs-based partial financing of creative projects. The application deadline is continuously open, having started on June 1, 2024 – there is no time limitation.
This funding instrument requires the submission of an application to the responsible Section for Art and Culture of the Federal Ministry. A prerequisite is proof that the project would not be feasible or fully realizable without public funds. A financial or in-kind contribution is expected according to economic capacity (exceptions possible). Furthermore, any already granted or applied-for funding from third parties must be disclosed. There is no individual legal entitlement to funding; the allocation of funds is at the discretion of the funding authority. These framework conditions ensure coordinated support for innovative art projects while simultaneously guaranteeing responsible use of funds.
