Special Support for Mountain Regions

The special support for mountain areas in Vorarlberg is aimed at agricultural enterprises in remote mountainous regions that can demonstrate year-round livestock farming and long-term use of their land. The objective is to secure the permanent settlement of these regions in accordance with the Agricultural and Forestry Promotion Act and thus maintain the stability of the rural structure. Eligible for funding are both private individuals and companies whose operations achieve at least 120 points in the mountain farm register and whose total income does not exceed the subsistence minimum according to § 291a EO. The subsidy is granted continuously, and applications can be submitted at any time.

Approval requires residence in a remote area as well as proof of continuous management of the agricultural land and assurance of roughage utilization through year-round livestock farming. The Department Va – Agriculture and Rural Areas of the Vorarlberg State Government provides professional support for the program and assists with the application process. This support not only strengthens individual enterprises but also preserves the cultural and ecological diversity in the mountain areas. Thus, the funding contributes to securing livelihoods and the further development of the rural region in Vorarlberg.
