Other Sports Funding

The Other Sports Funding offers a nationwide grant opportunity for non-profit organizations, public institutions, interest groups, and other associations whose activities do not fall into the traditional categories of elite sports, recreational sports, sporting events, or sports infrastructure. Derived from the provisions of the Federal Sports Funding Act (BSFG 2017 as amended), projects in the fields of science and research, development cooperation, as well as special tasks are supported. This opens up a broad spectrum of funding opportunities to realize innovative initiatives and further strengthen the diversity of Austrian sports.

Eligible for funding are sports federations, organizations, and institutions from all federal states, which can submit applications continuously – at any time and without exclusive submission deadlines. The program aims to establish sustainable structures and specifically support those actors whose work goes beyond the traditionally defined areas of sports funding. Through this open funding framework, both research in the elite sports context and non-profit development cooperation can be effectively financed and further developed. Applications are submitted directly to the responsible department in the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport or via Bundes-Sport GmbH.
